ewz adores you…30 Rock

October 21, 2009

A&ESeason 4 of 30 Rock premiered last week, and it begs the question, “can the show get any better?” The Answer: Yes it can. The episode premiere was marinated in irony, deep-fried in all the ‘issues’ of the moment (the economic recession, anger at the exorbitant salaries of executives, and the tendency of contemporary celebrities to continue to be completely out of touch with reality), doused in odd-ball humour and then sprinkled with a dash of self-aware elitism. A recipe for brilliance.

In the first episode, we see Liz and the crew dining at an ‘Asian fusion’ restaurant, where Jack announces that the network is desperate for cash and needs to attract a wider audience, namely, ‘real America’. This sets into motion a series of events that is smug, smart, laugh-out-loud funny, and in its own weird way, intensely political.

Welcome back 30 Rock, ewz adores you!
